VYPE Media, a multimedia company focusing primarily on sports coverage in the Central Texas area, have been associated with Stack Streaming for almost a decade.
Working with high schools, booster clubs and athletic departments, they have long supported these organizations – and some sports clubs and colleges – with their live streaming needs.
Many of these organizations have trusted the functionality of Stack Streaming for several years and, with the benefits of choosing our platform plentiful, are likely to keep doing so for many more to come.
How it works
VYPE Media centralize streaming operations for sports organizations, many of whom don’t have personnel in-house who can dedicate their time to running live streams.
There are two approaches to live streaming that these organizations take:
- Pay-per-view model: this helps them to recoup much of the cost of live streaming and reinvest any further revenue back into their services or other athletic programs. This model will be used by up to 10 of VYPE’s American football clients later this year
- Free streaming model: Other organizations prefer to offer free-to-air games on their Stack Streaming channel and pay for the cost of doing so, as a service to their fans
Through their work with VYPE Media, most organizations pay for the cost of the Stack Streaming platform, plus the equipment/crew needed to manage their streaming on the day of a game/event.
They also have some affiliate customers, who have the in-house ability to produce streams without the need for VYPE staff. In these instances, they only receive the equipment needed to offer HD broadcasts to their audience.
From a VYPE Media perspective, they produce individual Stack Streaming accounts for each of their clients and distribute the accumulated revenue at the end of each season.
What they said
Suna Venkat, director of technical operations for VYPE Media’s ‘VYPE Live’ platform, says that many of their clients find Stack Streaming to be the most cost-effective and easy-to-use method of sharing their games with the wider public.
Several are also reaping the benefits of the pay-per-view model – something which became more important than ever in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“When Covid became a thing and pay-per-view was more requested, we started using the Stack Streaming platform more than we were previously,” she said.
“It can be quite confusing for customers to get their head around the monetization side of sports, and that’s what we were able to help them with.
“Many of our clients have chosen to use the premium Stack Streaming model so they keep 80% of their ticket price, although others use the alternative model which sees them keep 60% of earnings.
“We have found that working with Stack Streaming is the most cost-effective way of doing things for the client, and will continue to help many of them broadcast games to a larger audience.”
